The 1975 Drops 'Me & You Together Song' And Announces North American Tour

On Thursday (January 16), The 1975 released its newest song off Notes on a Conditional Form, “Me & You Together Song” and it's a return to the band's roots.

“It's loads of things this song. I was writing a film at some point and then I wanted a song for it and then we were kind of like Notes On A Conditional Form being this sort of retrospective experience at times,” Matty said in a recent interview with Annie Mac. “We been looking back at where we came from musically. This just felt like the kind of music we grew up with.”

“I think that's the most nostalgic straight up song on the record,” drummer George Daniel said.

“I've been in love with her for ages/ And I can't seem to get it right/ I fell in love with her in stages/ My whole life,” singer Matty Healy croons in the chorus.

The lyrics are quite a departure from Healy's usual dark lyrics from The 1975's catalog and the in-your-face composition of recent songs like “People.” “This is straight up vibing sort of happiness,” he said in the same interview.

On top of releasing the new song, the band also dropped its highly-anticipated US tour dates! The band will even plant a tree for every ticket sold. The North American tour will kick off on April 27 in Houston, TX and wrap up on June 11 Duluth, GA. Phoebe Bridgers and beabadoobee will join the band on tour.

Healy recently shared the news that the album's release has been pushed back until April after originally being scheduled for February. Luckily, he promised more songs would be coming before then. “The album kind of references every part of the 1975 it's taken us a minute. It's maybe our best record,” Healy said.
